Faced with the accumulating constraints and limitations, it is with great regret that the Carrefour international de théâtre is forced to cancel the 21st edition of its festival, scheduled to take place from May 21st to June 6th, 2020.

As of March 26th, it seems neither realistic nor safe to hope to deliver the festival program as it was imagined, if only because of the restrictions imposed at the borders by the government of Canada until the end of the month of June to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

It is a difficult decision to make, but the Carrefour’s board of directors and the Carrefour’s team felt that delaying further would only exacerbate the financial consequences for the event. Furthermore, we are already extremely concerned about the repercussions of the current crisis on artists.

Working towards a postponement of Où tu vas…?

As for Où tu vas quand tu dors en marchant…?, the Carrefour’s team and the City of Quebec, broadcaster of the outdoor show, will assess the possibility of a postponement by the end of fall 2020. The success of this production is entirely based on the participation of artists, performing arts workers, volunteers and the citizens of the Quebec City area.

Although it is difficult at the moment to predict what this summer and fall will be like, we know that, when the time comes, we will have only one desire, which is to regain possession of our city as soon as possible with art and artists to celebrate the return to normalcy with the people of Quebec.
